A Guide To Destiny 2’s Guardian Games

Destiny 2’s latest free to play event goes live this evening and will see the three classes of Guardians battle it out to be the best. The games will run from April 21st through to May 11th and the only criteria for entry is that you have a power level over 770.

To begin the games head to evil witch nice old lady Eva Levante in the tower. She will give you a new class item that you must wear to participate in the games, annoying if you have perks you heavily rely on your existing item but there we go. When you have the item equipped enemies will drop ‘laurels’ which they just happen to be carrying for next week or so, and you must collect these to advance ‘Medal’ bounties for bronze, silver and gold medals. You can also earn laurels by completing matches of Gambit or Crucible.

At the end of each day the game will reset and each classes item will be coloured bronze, silver or gold depending on which class one, so example if Warlocks were top the previous day they get a gold class item. At the end of the event the class which has the most wins will find their item locked in to gold, second and third replace getting silver and bronze, and this will be locked in for the rest of year.

There are also some goodies to pick up including three Exotic Ghost Shells, one for each class. Eva will have quests for these alongside new bounties, these are repeatable and will give you Bright Dust if you decide to grind. A new Exotic Machine Gun  called the “Heir Apparent” will also become available during this event.

If you wish to shell out hard cash / silver then Eververse will have a new finisher exclusive to the event, plus other items available to purchase using Bright Dust. Finally, there is a weekly bounty named  “On Your Laurels” which you can get from Eva, complete this and you can buy – for real money – the Bungie Rewards Guardian Games Box, a box of real life trinkets to commemorate the games.

Don’t forget that there will be an update to the game just before the event goes live so you will need to grab that and, depending on your format, do something else for half an hour while the game installs a patch your downloaded in less than four seconds.
