The Wonderful 101 physical edition has been delayed, digital versions will release on time

PlatinumGames has announced that it is going to delay the physical release of The Wonderful 101 due to the impact of COVID-19 on supply lines. This delay will have no impact on the digital release. The new dates for the physical release of The Wonderful 101 are June 30th for North America and July 3rd for Europe. The digital release will still be going ahead on May 19th in North America and May 22nd in Europe so if you’ve opted for those then you will be unaffected.

It was back in February when PlatinumGames confirmed The Wonderful 101 Remastered by posting a Kickstarter for the project. The target was met quickly and the total amount of money raised came to ¥235,320,528 which equates to approximately £1.8 million/$2.2 million.

In our review for The Wonderful 101 Blair wrote:

The Wonderful 101 is a really great title that is quite unique in its direction. While the first half of the game really struggles, it picks up the pace (and scale) as it continues, with the brilliant characters – as if they’re action figures but don’t quite know that – paving a path of destruction in their defence against the Geathjerk.

It’s a great start for what could hopefully become Nintendo’s next big IP. Let’s hope, as with Mario and Zelda before it, we’ll see The Wonderful 101 return on each of Nintendo’s platforms for at least the next twenty years.
