The Last of Us Part 2’s new story trailer has arrived – watch it here

Update: The new trailer is here. It’s a story trailer though, so…. you might not want to watch it, even if you trust Naughty Dog to try and preserve major plot points and story beats for the full game.

The blurb on the trailer reads:

After a vicious and violent event disrupts the relative peace that Ellie has found in Jackson, she sets out to bring justice to those responsible. As she hunts them down one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.

The Last of Us Part II went gold earlier this week, meaning it’s on track to meet its new, final June 19th release date for PlayStation 4.

The original story is below.

Heads up! Naughty dog have announced that a new trailer for The Last of Us Part II will be dropping today at 3pm BST!

According to an official PlayStation listing for the game it will come on two discs and will require at least 100GB. This same page also mentions PlayStation 4 Pro enhancements while confirming that Part II will not have any form of multiplayer (boo).

The Last of Us Part II will officially launch on June 19th exclusively on PlayStation 4. Originally the game was meant to release in February 2020 but was pushed back to May to allow for more polish. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus crisis, Sony made the difficulty decision to delay the game indefinitely before its final launch date was confirmed which is June 19th.

Neil Druckmann has confirmed that The Last of Us Part 2 has now gone gold, meaning that a master copy of the game has been prepared for retails discs to be pressed and prepared for launch. This is what will be found in retail copies, though modern game development means that Naughty Dog will continue to polish and refine the game over the next few weeks for a day one patch.

two weeks ago Sony and Naughty Dog suffered a major blow when The Last of Us Part 2 was leaked across social media. This leak was huge and contained plot points and footage from a development build of what will likely be one of Sony’s biggest gaming blockbusters.  The leak even had the ending plus evidence pointing to multiplayer code, as well as a look at the chapter selection screens. Of course, Sony was quick to act to remove the original sources of the leak but it remains that a lot of the information is now out in the public domain so be careful!
