Nacon are building up to their own games showcase on 7th July, and have done so by tapping into the IGN Summer of Gaming expo streams. One of the big highlights in Nacon’s upcoming lineup is Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood. Check out the new trailer here:
Based on the tabletop RPG Werewolf: The Apocalypse, a part of the World of Darkness universe that also contains Vampire: The Masquerade, the game will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and is pencilled in for a 2020 release.
The story follows the Cahal, an eco-terrorist werewolf banished from his tribe, but deciding to fight against the corporations that have caused pollution across the American Northwest. The game will let you shapeshift between wolf, human and werewolf form, to explore, converse and fight across this region.
The game is in development by Cyanide, best known for the Styx games and Call of Cthulhu. It’s actually the Styx: Shards of Darkness team working on this, so there might be some elements that will carry across from that game’s stealth action.
In a quirk of licensing and the timing of game company acquisitions, the game isn’t being published by Paradox Interactive, who hold the rights to the World of Darkness, but by Nacon. You might know Nacon better by their previous name Bigben Interactive, who recently decided to adopt the branding of their peripheral creating subsidiary. Perhaps they were just a bit bored of everyone thinking they were a London-based company, when they are actually French?
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood was announced in January 2017, but was first shown at E3 2019 and then at PDXCON 2019 in October. We’ll get our next major look at it next month at Nacon’s showcase on 7th July, the latest step in the publishers ambitious attempts to grow their portfolio and audience.
