The Outlast Trials gets a brand new teaser, will release in 2021

Back in December, Red Barrels revealed Outlast Trials as the latest game in the Outlast franchise and it has a slightly different setting to it. The Outlast Trials is not a direct sequel to the previous games but set in the same universe and the time frame here will be the middle of the Cold War. Additionally. The Outlast Trials will have a co-op element to it with players being able to explore the world in up to teams of four, but you can play solo if you wish.

Philippe Morin spoke about why the Cold War era was chosen as a setting, and it was in order to expand the mythology behind the games by revisiting Project MKUltra at its height. Morin noted that the co-op mode will have segments where players will find themselves separated from one another. So you will not always be able to rely on your co-survivors to get out dangerous situations. The new trailer does confirm that Outlast Trials will be released in 2021 but platforms outside of PC have yet to be confirmed.

  1. Excited for next gen horror games! I didn’t like outlast 2 though something about the setting just didn’t work, compared to the asylum.

  2. Ouch…! The first Outlast was brilliant, one of the few Plus games I absolutely loved. The second still sits in my backlog, I’ll get to that soon. But it’s good to see Red Barrels is still busy…
