When PGA Tour 2K21 heads to the fairway this summer, it will be packing a big new career mode for you to dive into. It’s a rags to snazzy golfing outfits tale, as you create your own player and make a name for yourself from the Korn Ferry Tour through to a fight for the FedExCup.
PGA Tour 2K21 will be released for PS4, Xbox One, PC via Steam, Switch, and Stadia on 21st August.
The game builds this around a familiar sounding MyPLAYER character customisation – you’ll recognise the branding from 2K’s NBA series of games – able to create your character with tons of hairstyles and fashion options for both male and female players, kitting them out in gear from Adidas, Polo Ralph Lauren, Malbon Golf, Callaway Golf, Bridgestone Golf, TaylorMade Golf and more.
The trailer also showed off the commentary team of Luke Elvy and Rich Beem, who will provide play-by-play commentary as you go through the courses.
Outside of career there are both local and online multiplayer options with game modes such as 4-Player Scramble, Stroke Play, and Skins. Players can also create Online Societies where they can run full length seasons and tournaments with friends. The events can be customised with different rules and requirements.
2K has a partnership with Adidas allowing for some pre-order bonuses. Anyone who pre-orders will get a Codechaos MyPlayer pack that features Codechaos Boa golf shoes, polo top, hat and trousers. Meanwhile, those who grab the digital deluxe version will get the same pack and the Golden Touch pack which includes a gold putter and driver as well as 2300 VC. Yep, the game will feature VC, so we shall have to wait and see just how balanced the microtransactions are, which isn’t guaranteed given 2K’s spotty track record.
One thing that’s for certain is that the golfing action will be pretty good. It’s being developed by HB Studio, the same team who made The Golf Club 2019 featuring PGA Tour.
