The next Resident Evil Showcase is in April – Re:Verse open beta also coming next month

On Resident Evil’s 25th anniversary, Capcom has dropped a bunch of Resi related news. The next Resident Evil Showcase will be held in April to give players a deeper look into what to expect from Resident Evil Village ahead of its 7th May release, and Capcom will also be holding an open beta of the bundled in multiplayer game, Resident Evil Re:Verse.

The Resident Evil Re:Verse open beta will be held on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam, starting at 11PM PDT on 7th April and 7AM BST on 8th April, and running through to 11PM PDT on 11th April and 7AM BST on 12th April. If you have the previous open beta still installed, the new beta will be activated with a simple game update.

The game is a free for all multiplayer experience in which players start off as human characters, hunting each other and trying to collect virus vials to let them transform into the various Umbrella Corp. bioweapons upon their death.

Elsewhere, Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Village will release day and date on Google Stadia alongside the other platforms. This means the game will be out on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam and Google Stadia on 7th May.

The Resident Evil Showcase will follow on from the January game reveal with more information and game content to show off – will there be more ludicrously tall and suggestive characters to reveal?. However, it won’t just be about RE Village. Capcom is going all in on the 25th anniversary celebrations this year, and will no doubt have more tie ins and promotions to announce during the showcase. Back in January, this included a tie in with The Division 2, amongst other things.
