It’s the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, and alongside Resident Evil Village, Capcom have taken the unusual step of teaming up with Ubisoft for a crossover event with The Division 2.
The Division 2 X Resident Evil event will kick off on 2nd February, running until 15th February. It’s largely focussed on cosmetics instead of a barmy gameplay event, but you’ll be able to collect iconic Resident Evil outfits, weapon skins and more as you play.
In fact, you can snag a Leon Kennedy RPG outfit just by logging in.
The event is all preamble to Resident Evil Village – AKA Resident Evil 8. Capcom today revealed the first gameplay from the game as well as revealing its release date. RE Village will be out on 7th May for PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC, but it’s also coming to older platforms, with PS4 and Xbox One versions and free cross-gen upgrades as well.
If you want to see what all the fuss is about? A Resident Evil Village PS5 exclusive demo is out today, with a multiplatform demo coming sometime this spring to all launch platforms.
Capcom have also revealed RE:VERSE, a bundled in multiplayer mode that will be a free additional part alongside Resident Evil Village to celebrate the series’ legacy and 25th anniversary. A slightly barmy looking deathmatch game for up to six player, it brings together a bunch of heroes and villains from across the series to duke it out in some of the iconic locations, such as the RCPD lobby.
Re:Verse on from Resident Evil: Resistance, which was bundled in with Resident Evil 3 Remake last year as a 4v1 asymmetrical mode, another wildly different multiplayer mode that was teased and used (in part) to mislead eager fans of the series about what Capcom were cooking up with RE3.
