Capcom has released Resident Evil Village update 1.13 which add a feature some members of the Resi community have been asking for since the horror sequel first launched.
Available to download now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Resident Evil Village update 1.13 adds Latin American Spanish as a display language. There are no other major features or content listed in the official patch notes though Capcom does mention a fresh wave of bug fixes.
Released in 2021, Resident Evil Village is the eight main instalment in the long-running survival horror franchise. It borrows the same first person gameplay which debuted in Resident Evil 7 while also copying its more traditional design as opposed to the more action-heavy fifth and sixth entries. In our Resident Evil Village review we scored the game a terrific 9/10, cementing it as one of our top titles of that year. Since then, Capcom have rolled out new updates and content, including the Winters’ expansion, Re:Verse online multiplayer, third person mode, and other features. There’s also a free PlayStation VR 2 update for those who own the game on PS5.
What’s next for the Resident Evil franchise? Since RE7, Capcom has employed a successful pincer-like approach, releasing new and innovative games in the franchise while revisiting older ones, completely remaking them for a new generation of player. After the back to back success of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4, a recent Capcom survey suggests that more potential remakes are on the way.

The next game to receive a makeover may well be Resi 5. Despite being a power seller, it’s not always viewed in the most positive light thanks to its more action-heavy focus – something that Capcom would take to the extreme in Resi 6. On the other hand we could see a Code: Veronica remake, or even the first game remade (again).
