Capcom have finally announced the heavily rumoured remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica with a cinematic trailer at Summer Games Fest 2026, and a slight name change, it’s just Veronica.
Just as with Resident Evil Requiem this year, RE Veronica is coming to Switch 2, PC, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2027.
Resident Evil Code: Veronica originally launched on the Sega Dreamcast in 2000. An enhanced version of the game, Code: Veronica X, was released on other consoles over later years.
The game finds Claire Redfield continuing her search for her brother, Chris, who has vanished following the destruction of Raccoon City. She makes her way to an Umbrella Corporation facility in Paris, but is captured and imprisoned on Rockfort Island. As you might expect, the T-virus is unleashed and Claire teams up with another prisoner, Steve Burnside, and then there’s all sorts of twisty plot about sisters, Antarctica and surprise reunions.
The game continues to make great use of Capcom’s in-house RE Engine, and promises to modernise the gameplay with more realism to push the survival horror further.
