Activision has confirmed that Xbox One owners of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 will not get a free upgrade to the Xbox Series X|S version of the game. Players who own the digital Xbox One version or any of the PS4 versions will get an upgrade to the Xbox Series X|S/PS5 versions. Activision has not stated why this is the case.
In the FAQ, Activision wrote:
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S on March 26, 2021, and Nintendo Switch* later this year! If you’ve purchased a digital version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One or a disc version on PlayStation 4, you’ll be able to upgrade your version of the game within the same console family and bring your game progress with you! Don’t have Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2? PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players can purchase a digital version of the game on the previous generation now and upgrade on March 26.”
It is an odd difference between the PlayStation and Xbox versions. If it is a technical issues then Activision could have stated it, but if it is not then it may be about the financials and sales for Xbox Series X|S version. In our review for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, Thomas wrote:
