Monster Hunter Rise has only just launched and there’s already a patch to download and install. This day one update isn’t massive yet activates a number of important features including amiibo support and DLC. The patch also comes tagged with some unspecified bug fixes.
Like many Nintendo Switch first party games and exclusives, Monster Hunter Rise features amiibo support. Every day you can bag yourself 3 lottery tickets to use at the market in Kamura village and bag various provisions to help with your hunting.
Any amiibo figure can be used to do this (we tried it with the Mario Party Wario amiibo) though figures specifically tied to Monster Hunter Rise (including the chunky Magnamalo) will unlock additional bonuses.

On the road up to release, Monster Hunter Rise has received rave reviews from the press. Currently, the Nintendo Switch exclusive sits on a mighty OpenCritic score average of 87, making it one of the best rated games of 2021.
In our own review we awarded Monster Hunter Rise a 9 out of 10. Here’s what Dom had to say about Capcom’s latest entry in this TSA favourite franchise:
Monster Hunter Rise is an incredible game. While it may not feel quite as ground-breaking for the series as World did, it boasts a stronger and distinctly Japanese identity, and the changes and streamlined gameplay simply focus on the franchise’s true stars – the monsters. Rise is easily one of the best games for the Nintendo Switch, and one of the finest Monster Hunters ever.
