CI Games has released a brand new gameplay trailer for Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, and it gives some of the story setting. The trailer also shows some brutal headshots with skulls flying, as well as some close up machine gun action. According to the trailer Raven, the player’s character, is sent to the fictional Middle Eastern nation of Kuamar, where its dictatorial rulers are on the brink of invading a neighbouring nation. It’s this that triggers clandestine and deathly operations.
The previous game in the series leant heavily on stealth with open-world sandboxes described as “sniper’s paradises”, and the sequel pushes that further with much larger maps to allow you to take on targets from really, really far away. The game is the most expansive in the series to date, with the trailer showing off the new ultra-long range sniping at ranges of over 1000m. There will be five sandbox maps that allow you to take on the missions in a variety of different ways, with unlockable rewards for completing all of the objectives. All of the campaign missions have beenl hand-crafted to ensure that the long-distance sniping works well, but you’ll still have to employ stealth and subterfuge in order to reach the ideal sniping spot.
On next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X, you’ll have enhanced graphics, a native 4K resolution and improved loading times from their built in SSDs. However, there’s no word on if there’s full support for the DualSense haptics and trigger features. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 will be available from June 4th.
