Back in June last year, Merge Games and Antab Studio announced the game Foreclosed. Foreclosed is a third person shooter that has the style trappings of the cyberpunk aesthetic and comic books. Now, it has been confirmed that Foreclosed will be released on August 12th. The game will be available PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Stadia. The digital versions of Foreclosed will cost £14.99 $/€19.99 with physical edition prices varying between platforms. On PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S it will cost £19.99 $/€24.99, and Nintendo Switch it will be $29.99/£24.99/€29.99.

In Foreclosed you follow the story of Evan Kapnos, his identity recently Foreclosed, stripped of his job, brain implants and access to the city Blockchain. Players will be able to approach scenarios in different ways due to an extensive skill tree that unlocks different skills mixed with the various mods available for weapons. You may wondering what Foreclosed means in this context and it seems that in the world of Foreclosed can lose their very identity,

Interview: How Foreclosed’s RPG-shooter came from the dehumanising bureaucracy of the real world

Shortly after the reveal of Foreclosed, we had an interview with Antab Studios about the game to delve deeper in the inspiration behind it. When we asked why Antab wanted to make Foreclosed the studio said:

Many reasons, actually. We wanted to take something good out of our bad experience, but we also think that the contrast between the biological identity and the legal one, can be an interesting topic to think about. It is the actual person VS all the legal and economical data connected to him/her – a bunch of information that becomes more and more important for us, as our society becomes more and more globalized and digitalized. Also, making a third-person action/adventure game – a genre we personally appreciate – can be considered quite challenging for a team as small as we are, but we sincerely felt it was the right time to make the jump.

There is much more information about the story behind Foreclosed in the interview, including the legal issues that inspired the game.
