Turtle Rock and Warner Bros have given more details on Back 4 Blood’s PvP mode, Swarm. The mode has teams of four playing as either the Cleaners or the Ridden with three rounds per match. Like a a battle royale the game has a circular barrier that slowly decreases in radius, pushing the Cleaners towards one central point.
The new trailer reveals even more zombie types including the Tall Boy and the Wretch, and at the start of each round the players can chose one of nine Ridden types. As the Ridden battle the Cleaners they will get extra buffs and abilities, which persist between rounds. Weapons in the game include hand guns, SMGs, sniper rifles and shotguns, and you can customise each weapon by locating add-ons which will be scattered through the map.
Back 4 Blood will be getting two betas this summer, the early access beta will run from August 5th to the 9th, while an open beta will run from August 12th to the 16th. The betas will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC, and will include cross-play.
You can register for the open beta by signing up here. Pre-ordering the game grants entry into the early access beta and some players who register via the link may have a chance to get into the early access portion of the beta. You will need a WB Games Account in order to redeem their open beta code but you will not need a PlayStation Plus subscription or Xbox Live membership.
The beta will have five different Cleaners to play as along with a variety of weapons, cards to build decks with, and Ridden to slay. It will include two co-op PvE missions and two PvP maps as well as the ability to explore Fort Hope.
