Insomniac Games has announced that it has five new job openings for a multiplayer project it is working on. The game looks like it is in the very early stages of development with the vacancies being for a Creative Director, Systems Designer, Story Lead, Art Director, and VFX Artist. Interestingly the story lead vacancy ad states one of the essential requirements is creating non-linear and episodic titles, which could point to a multiplayer game that has its own seasons similar to the likes of Apex Legends and Fortnite.

Insomniac Games has experience with multiplayer content such as Sunset Overdrive’s co-op element where players teamed up to survive in the city, as well as some of the Ratchet and Clank games. What is unclear is whether Insomniac Games’ new multiplayer project will be based on an already established IP from the studio, and whether this multiplayer game will be PvP or PvE. Due to the vacancies still being new it is unlikely that we will get any teasers until mid to late 2022, and a release likely not to happen until at least 2023.
Insomniac Games has been very busy over the last couple of years. Most recently, the studio released Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Prior to that the studio released Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Marvel’s Spider-Man. In our review for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Tuffcub wrote:
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the PlayStation 5 showcase you have been waiting for. Instantaneous travel to worlds thanks to the SSD, thumping 3D audio, ray tracing through the gorgeous levels, and clever use of the DualSense bring the many locations to life. Paired with classic Ratchet & Clank gameplay, this game is a riotous feast of explosions, platforming, and fast paced action.
