EA has announced that people should not expect any Star Wars related news during the company’s EA Play Live showcase. The announcement came via EA Star Wars social media. Instead, EA has said Star Wars news will be coming next year instead, so those of you waiting for the likes of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2, or another entry from EA into the franchise will have to wait a bit longer. The announcement is below.
We won’t be showing any new Star Wars games at EA Play Live on July 22nd…but all of us look forward to celebrating with you next year when we share our vision for the Galaxy far, far away!

It is unlikely we will get any other Star Wars news regarding new games this year from other developers either. At the beginning of 2021, there was an announcement from Ubisoft that it was working with Lucasfilm Games on a Star Wars game. However, with EA’s exclusive deal running until 2023 Ubisoft will probably not be showing anything more until we are closer to the end of that deal.
“The Star Wars galaxy is an amazing source of motivation for our teams to innovate and push the boundaries of our medium,” said Ubisoft’s Yves Guillmot at the time of the announcement. “Building new worlds, characters and stories that will become lasting parts of the Star Wars lore is an incredible opportunity for us, and we are excited to have our Ubisoft Massive studio working closely with Lucasfilm Games to create an original Star Wars adventure that is different from anything that has been done before.”
The only Star Wars based game expected to be released this year is LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and that will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
