UPDATE: Everything seems to be working now!

Original story below….

It seems the PlayStation Network is having a few problems tonight, but not everybody. Some players, myself included, seem to be fine, while others are very stuck and cannot launch any games as the authentication service that checks you have permission to play digital games seems to be a bit broken.

According to Sony’s Status page, all parts of the PSN are experiencing issues.

The network started having issues around 8pm this evening, so far Sony don’t seem to have commented on the problem other than update the status page. Error code WS-116521-6 is what you will get if you are trying to launch a game and your PlayStation cannot connect to Sony’s server to authorise the launch.

Sony are having a bit of a mare this week, earlier today it appears that the September PlayStation Plus game have leaked. They are Hitman 2 and Predator: Hunting Grounds for PlayStation 4, and Overcooked! All You Can Eat as the PS5 bonus game. The leak comes from Dealabs who have correctly leaked previous PlayStation Plus line ups. The moderators for the site seem to have accepted the proof that the leak is legitimate, if they have any suspicions the posts are removed.

Predator: Hunting Grounds only scored 6/10 in our review at launch but has had many patches and tweaks since then. Personally I found it to be rather fun and it captured the feeling of being hunted through a steamy jungle perfectly.

Hitman 2 is getting on a bit and has been superseded by Hitman 3 but scored a respectable 8/10 in our review. “Hitman 2 is full of the best Hitman stealth action yet,” said Stefan. “Yes, it’s evolutionary in some ways, and you have to accept the series’ idiosyncratic take on the genre, but there’s space for it to keep growing with the return of Escalation missions and continuing Elusive Contracts.”

Overcooked needs no introduction, the game has been on PS Plus before. However, Overcooked! All You Can Eat brings Overcooked, it’s sequel, plus all the DLC and and a PS5 upgrade.

  1. When I tried to start F1 2021 at around 10.30pm I got a message saying that it couldn’t download the cloud save but after a couple of tries it was fine and connected to the EA/Codemasters server without any issues.
