Halo Infinite tech preview invitations going out for the next two weekends

Halo Infinite Multiplayer Header

Invitations are going out for the next Halo Infinite tech previews, which are set to run over the course of the next two weekends. These will take place from September 23rd to 26th and from September 30th to October 3rd, across Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, though matchmaking will be focused on particular times of each day that might interrupt your other weekend plans.

The latest Inside Infinite blog post goes into more detail over what you can expect. The intent here is for a mass testing of 343 Industries’ matchmaking and server infrastructure, so every single eligible Halo Insider will be invited. Eligibility depends on when you signed up for Halo Insider, with the cut off for the first weekend being 13th September, though more people will be invited for the second weekend. If you do not receive an email notification, you can log into your Halo Waypoint account and find the installation details as and when they go live toward on Thursday.

In terms of the game content you’ll be able to play, everything from the first tech preview will return – the Bot Arena against AI, Weapon Drills, customisation and the Battle Pass and access to the Halo Waypoint app – but that’s in addition to head to head gameplay and new objective modes to try out.

The Social Arena will be Halo Infinite’s casual matchmaking mode and 4v4 multiplayer. This will include regular Slayer, objective modes and will gain a new map on Sunday 26th September. Then for the second weekend test, the 12v12 Big Team Battle matchmaking will be opened up with three different modes on the Fragmentation map.

Big Team Battle and objective game modes will feature in the next two technical tests.

343 Industries will be holding a stream on Wednesday 22nd September to preview all of the content.

However, you won’t be able to play all of this all of the time. When the test does go live, each day’s play will be restricted to two periods:

  • 10am-2pm & 5pm-9pm PDT
  • 1pm-5pm & 8pm-12am EDT
  • 6pm-10pm & 1am-5am* BST (UK time)
  • 7pm-11pm & 2am-6am* EST

*These times are overnight on the morning of the following day.
