A new Titanfall is both a thing, and not a thing at Respawn. During a recent YouTube stream Respawn Entertainment community coordinator Jason Garza was asked if there was anything Titanfall shaped going on at Respawn.
“There’s nothing there,” he commented, “It’s an old one, back when Xbox [One] first launched. Don’t get your hopes up, man. I’ve said this before, we just don’t have anything in the works. There’s nothing there. We’ve got too many other games in the works right now.”
So there you go, Titanfall 3 is not a thing. But wait, here comes the Respawn Twitter feed to build everyone’s hopes up again.
Contrary to what some folks are reporting, Titanfall is the very core of our DNA.
Who knows what the future holds…

In May 2020 Respawn Entertainment boss Vince Zampella also stated that there was no Titanfall game in development. Zampella conformed this fact in an interview with IGN, backing up previous statements made as to what the multi-team studio is working on… or more accurately, not working on.
“There’s nothing currently in development, but it’s always there,” Zampella said to IGN. “You see the little bits of stuff coming back [through the lore in Apex Legends]. At some point, I would personally like to see some kind of resurrection there. We’ll see if I can make that happen.”
Titanfall preceded the augmented movement FPS boom of the mid 2010s, while Titanfall 2 then had one of the more finely crafted single player campaigns of the era. Respawn went on the experiment with Battle Royale genre, which eventually emerged as Apex Legends. Alongside that, a separate team was founded within Respawn to develop Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and a further teams is worked on Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond for VR. It is presumed they are currently hard at work on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2.
Will Titanfall 3 ever be a thing? At the moment it looks unlikely.
