This is a major reveal for western fans of the Shin Megami Tensei series. While some gamers will always lean toward a subtitles with Japanese audio, others will prefer to play with an English dub, so it’s great to see a trailer introducing the cast and get to hear their voices.

Here’s the core characters and their English VA’s:

  • Tao Isonokami – Jeannie Tirado
  • Yuzuru Atsuta – Mark Whitten
  • Miyazu Atsuta – Ashlyn Madden
  • Ichiro Dazai – Stuart Allan
  • Hayao Koshumizu (Japanese Prime Minister and Director of Bethel Japan) – Sean Crisden
  • Abdiel (Bethel’s Voice of the Seraphim Archangel) – Cissy Jones
  • Shohei Yakumo – Ben Lepley
  • Nuwa (Mothers Goddess) – Laura Post
  • Aogami – Daman Mills

What do you think of their efforts? It’s quite a low key affair in the trailer, but I’m sure they’ll get to stretch their legs in what’s sure to be another wild adventure in the series.

The story of Shin Megami Tensei V follows a high school student who wanders into the world of “Da’ath”, where they are fused with a mysterious man to become a “Naobino”, a forbidden being, and gets to battling in a war between gods and demons. The game ending can diverge in many ways, depending on choices you make in the pursuit of the truth of the world.

The world of Da’ath is a completely desert landscape, with over 200 demons to battle. Some of the demons are familiar and others are newly drawn by Masayuki Doi, including beasts that are the size of mountains or giant birds flying overhead.

Shin Megami Tensei V has been in development for a heckin’ long time, first announced as a Switch exclusive back in 2017. Last summer, Nintendo and Atlus confirmed that the game will be receiving a simultaneous worldwide release in 2021.
