Grand Theft Auto VI may be getting some music from Dr Dre, Rolling Stone has reported. This information comes from Snoop Dogg, who has stated in an interview that he is also involved in some music creation for Rockstar’s long rumoured Grand Theft Auto VI. Snoop Dogg was speaking on Rolling Stone’s Music Now podcast where he made the claims. Dr Dre last released his own solo project back in 2015 with Compton. In the interview, Snoop Dogg said:
“I do know he’s [Dr Dre] in the studio/ I do know he’s making great fucking music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out. So I think that that will be the way that his music will be released, through the GTA video game.”
Of course, both Rockstar and representatives for Dr Dre have not provided any comments so far, and considering Grand Theft Auto VI is yet to be officially announced that is no surprise. The most recent rumours have stated that Grand Theft Auto VI will not be released until either 2024 or 2025, meaning a few more years where Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online dominate the franchise scene.
GTA6 will allegedly feature an expanding game map set in modern day Vice City. The reports came from insider Tom Henderson, whose track record includes leaking details of Battlefield 2042, and has since been corroborated by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier – who said simply “everything Tom Henderson has said about the game matches up with what I’ve heard” – and Video Game Chronicle’s sources.
While Schreier had previously reported that 2023 could be a realistic release window, that was “before we entered a pandemic that still hasn’t stopped”, and with Rockstar wary of the criticism it received around Red Dead Redemption 2’s release for excessive crunch time development.
