Forspoken release date confirmed for May 2022

Forspoken Header

Forspoken will be coming out on May 24th 2022, Square Enix and Luminous Productions have confirmed. The game will be available on PS5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. To mark the announcement of Forspoken’s release date a brand new trailer has been released giving more look at the story, as well as combat abilities. As you can main character Frey, played by Ella Balinska, has a number of powers to help in situations from a shield to stop incoming hits, cloaking to sneak past enemies, and a gun like power to shoot projectiles at enemies. A new enemy called Tanta Prav has been revealed as well, and she will be played by Pollyanna McIntosh.

Forspoken story DLC was also confirmed for Winter 2022, and that is called “In Tanta We Trust.” This DLC will be set before the events of Forspoken’s campaign, and act as a prequel to show part of how the world of Athia has become what it has. Square Enix also revealed the Digital Deluxe Edition for Forspoken which can be preordered from today. In the Digital Deluxe Edition players will receive:

  • Rare Resource Kit (Only included for the PlayStation®5 console Digital Deluxe Edition)
  • Mini Artbook (Digital Download)
  • Mini Soundtrack (Digital Download)
  • Forspoken: In Tanta We Trust prequel story DLC*
  • No Limits Cloak, Symbol Combo Necklace, Trigger Happy Nails and Crafting Starter Kit (PS5)
  • Elite Cloak, Spectra Combo Necklace and Overclock Nails (PC)

Forspoken promised to make “full use” of all that the PS5 has to offer, though it’s not quite clear what that means just yet. At its original announcement, it was suspected that it could be a pure PS5 exclusive, thus tapping into the SSD of the console for the creation of its world. It might still make use of the SSD’s ultra-speedy loading, but it will be interesting to see how the game’s minimum requirements are set on PC. We can certainly expect that game to make use of the DualSense controller’s haptics and triggers, as well as the Tempest AudioTech Engine for spatial audio.
