Hello Neighbor 2 has been announced for release on PS4 and PS5, coming to Sony platforms later this year.
Revealed during PlayStation’s recent indie showcase, a beta has also been confirmed and will take place on April 7, 2022. Hello Neighbor 2 is now up for preorder with those who buy a copy guaranteeing access to the beta when it launches.
From what publisher tinyBuild has shown of the sequel, it massively expands on the original Hello Neighbor which released back in 2017. Styling itself as a family friendly horror game, it boasted an unrelentingly creepy atmosphere as you tried and sneak into your neighbour’s house, trying not to alert him.
The moustachioed villain returns in Hello Neighbor 2 alongside a new cast of similarly sinister relatives who all seem to be hiding dark secrets behind their white picket fences. Children have gone missing in Raven Brooks including the protagonist of the original game, with players taking on the role of nosey journalist, Quentin.
In this first person stealth horror sequel, you’ll attempt to gather clues and solve puzzles while unfurling the game’s wider conspiracies. Each new neighbour is like an in-game boss, vigilantly patrolling their homes as you navigate traps and puzzles.
Hello Neighbor 2 Key Features
- You have an entire town as your playground, with plenty of houses and AI-driven residents to interact with.
- The game feels like an investigative journalist simulator – sneak around and find out your neighbors’ secrets. Why does this moustached gentleman go down to the amusement park every night?
- Can you outsmart the AIs? Every character in Hello Neighbor 2 is powered by a neural network AI and learns from the players, doing everything in their power to protect their gated community and its secrets.
- Uncover the big mystery hidden in Raven Brooks!
While Hello Neighbor felt a lot different to other horror games – both aesthetically and in terms of gameplay – there was a fair amount of jank. Getting around each level and working out what to do always seemed too vague to be fully enjoyable, lessons the developer has hopefully learned in creating this sequel.
