Operation Vector Glare has been confirmed as Rainbow Six Siege’s next season, making it the second season of year 7 or Y7S2 for short. The new season will kick off on June 7th. In Operation Vector Glare players will have the opportunity to play as the new Belgian Operator, Sens, a new team deathmatch map set in Greece, and the first phase of the new reputation system which will bring things like privacy mode, along with gameplay improvements.
Operation Vector Glare’s Sens is a Belgian attacking operator who can take some damage thanks to high health but that comes at a cost of movement speed. In terms of weapons Sens is equipped with the POF-9 or a 417 as a primary weapon and an SDP 9MM or a GONNE-6 as a secondary weapon. Sens also has a gadget called the ROU Projector System which uses a wheel to deploys projectors, and these projectors project a wall of light blocking the line of sight for other players. In addition, the wheel self destructs.
The new map will be set in Greece and it is called Close Quarter. The design of the map means movement is key rather than hunkering down and setting up a defensive position. With the Reputation System one of the penalties added will be Reverse Friendly Fire for those who take down teammates constantly. This penalty will only expire after multiple matches have been played by the offender without incident. Two new onboarding features are being added to Rainbow Six Siege through Operation Vector Glare. The first is Shooting Range where players can experiment with different loadouts, while the second is an Operator Guide which gives details about each character including their bios as well as how best to utilise them.
Squad Up Reactivation Program is another element coming with Operation Vector Glare. Current players can invite up to four players who have not played during Year 7, and after playing five PvP matches together each will earn rewards. The invitee can earn a Year 6 Operator, exotic skin, or other rewards if they already own the items. Meanwhile, the invited will unlock a Year 4 or Year 5 Operator or other rewards.
Rainbow Six Siege is also getting a very unexpected crossover. Ubisoft has partnered with SEGA to bring over a bundle based on the Yakuza franchise. In this bundle, Echo gets items that represent Yakuza protagonist Kiryu Kazama including his iconic white suit and red shirt attire. Meanwhile, Hibana will get items based on the character Kaoru Sayama. That is not all as there will also be an elite bundle for Echo based on Goro Majima.
