Details of a Modern Warfare 2 beta as well as operators, preorder bonuses, and game editions have reportedly been leaked online.
According to Charlie INTEL, this info comes via dataminers probing into the latest Call of Duty: Vanguard update. With Season 3 Reloaded ready to drop, files within the patch expose key information on the sequel such as an upcoming Modern Warfare 2 beta for PS4 and PS5.
PlayStation and Call of Duty have enjoyed a marketing partnership for the past several years. However, with Microsoft due to acquire Activision, this will likely be the last time we see PS4 and PS5 players get the upper hand over their Xbox and PC counterparts.
The leak suggests that there will be three different version of Modern Warfare 2 available when it launches on October 28, 2022. Pre-ordering the Standard Edition will net you a copy of the game as well as beta access and other digital goodies. The same goes for the Cross-Gen Bundle, though you’ll be able to access the game on both PS4 and PS5.
Finally, there’s a Vault Edition that includes the following goodies – this one’s definitely for the hardened COD fans and Warzone vets out there:
- Early access to open beta
- Battle Pass (1 Season) + 50 Tier Skips
- Red Team Operator Pack – Ghost, Soap, Price, Farah Operators
- FJX Cinder Weapon Vault
- 10 hours 2XP, + 10 hours 2WXP
- Ghost Legacy Pack – 12 Operator Skins & 10 Weapon Blueprints
Yesterday, Activision and Infinity Ward dropped a new video, giving us a look at the characters who will appear in the reboot sequel.
The Modern Warfare 2 rumour mill has been spinning for several months now. There’s been talk of a new online PvE mode featured, potentially evolving the fan favourite Special Ops, but the real money maker will be Warzone. It’s currently expected that the slate will be wiped clean for Warzone 2, with a brand new version of the game released, as opposed to sweeping updates that add new themes and weaponry into the mix, as we saw for Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard.
