Super Bomberman R Online servers will be switched off in December

Super Bomberman R Online

Super Bomberman R Online is the latest game that will have its servers switched off, Konami has confirmed. A specific reason has not been given by the publisher, instead citing various circumstances, but it could be that the player base left is not worth the cost of sustaining. Super Bomberman R Online is a relatively young game, having released in May 2021, which means it will be closed down just 18 months later.

The announcement by Konami says, “Thank you for playing Super Bomberman R Online. This service has continued to operate with the support of many users since its launch in May 2021, but due to various circumstances, we have decided to terminate the service on all platforms on December 1, 2022 at 01:00:00 (UTC).

The sale of Bomber Coins and Premium Packs will end at 01:00:00 UTC on June 1, 2022. We ask that all unused Bomber Coins be used before the end of the service. We hope that you will enjoy the game until the end of the service. The “Bomberman” series is moving forward with new projects. We hope to be able to inform you of this project soon. Thank you for your continued support of the “Bomberman” series.”

So, while it is the end of this game it is not the end of the Bomberman series. As the statement says, sales of coins and packs for Super Bomberman R Online have now been suspended so any you have should be used before the game shuts down on December 1st. In our review for the game, Dom wrote, “An infectious, frantic multiplayer blast, Super Bomberman R Online’s major caveat comes from its place amongst the current raft of Stadia exclusives. It doesn’t seem to be the place that people are choosing to play major multiplayer games, but in the case of Super Bomberman R Online, that’s a crying shame.”
