Session: Skate Sim is going to be coming out of early access on September 22nd, Nacon and Creature Studios have confirmed. It will be available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Session: Skate Sim will be different to the likes of EA’s Skate and the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games in that the emphasis is not about chasing scores. Instead, the whole point is to improve your skills to eventually put tricks together and share those with the community.
The features include:
- All the genuine skateboarding sensations: realism, immersion and difficulty just like when you first learn to skate… enough to delight skateboard fans.
- Innovative gameplay: With the dual stick controls, each stick represents one of your feet. You have to think about each movement so you can manage and transfer your weight just like in real life.
- Official content that will continue to be extended: currently, 4 pro skaters are available, and the game integrates iconic clothing and skateboard brands that are genuine references for all skateboarders
- Legendary locations selected by the game’s creators: Black Hubbas (New York), Brooklyn Banks (New York), at a 1:1 scale.
- An ultra-comprehensive video tool: because you need video to prove you’ve pulled off a perfect stunt, the game has an integrated video editor that includes different filters, several types of cameras, and lots more options that you can explore in-game.
When Thomas went hands on with Session: Skate Sim he wrote, ”
“While the lack of structure and things to do is a little disappointing, Session’s replay editor and placeable item system kept me thoroughly entertained as I combined the two to create some interesting lines and footage. You can place ramps, rails and other items in the world, giving you some extra tools to play with while creating lines, while a replay system allows you to replay the last minute or so in real-time or in slow motion. The below GIFs was created using a mix of the in-game replay editor captured through my nVidia capture software.
Session in its current form is a glimpse of something special. The small amount of content on offer mixed with the instability of the game will put some off, but there’s a lot of fun and depth to be found in the fantastic trick system. I look forward to not only seeing where the development team take Session, but also what the community creates and films in the coming months.”

After Easy Day wasted the potential of Skater XL by constantly ignoring their community and not implementing any improvements for nearly 2 years, Session cannot come soon enough!
