Games leaving PlayStation Plus Extra in July 2022

PS Plus Premium Header

Here are the latest games leaving PlayStation Plus Extra in July 2022. Much like Sony’s old PlayStation Now service, not all games will be available to download or stream forever with new titles being periodically added then removed at a later date.

The same applies to PlayStation Plus Extra, the middle tier in Sony’s revamped PS Plus that offers subscribers a library of games on demand. Unlike the top “Premium” tier, this doesn’t include the classics catalogue from older PlayStation generations, nor does it entitle you to PS3 game streaming or game trials.

Games leaving PlayStation Plus Extra | July 2022

According to the PlayStation Store there are two games about to be removed from the service. These include Shadow Warrior 3 (July 5th) and Syberia (July 19th).

For those who remember, Shadow Warrior 3 was available at launch on March 1, 2022, for PlayStation Now. However, just a few months later, the bombastic shooter sequel is about to leave the PS Plus library so if you plan on beating it you better be quick! Shadow Warrior 3 sees the return of quippy hero, Lo Wang, as he attempts to thwart another apocalyptic threat. It’s a fun, frenetic FPS though one that’s not quite as expansive as the huge Shadow Warrior 2.

Adventure game classic, Syberia, will also vanish from the PS Plus catalogue. As a PS3, streaming-only title it won’t be as missed, though fans of the genre should at least give it a look.

What’s with the whole PlayStation Plus relaunch?

The PlayStation Plus relaunch has now rolled out around the world, transforming the PS Plus we once knew into a three tiered subscription service that bundles in and expands what was once PlayStation Now. The classic PS Plus is now called PS Plus Essential, giving access to online multiplayer gaming, cloud save backups, exclusive offers and at least 2 free monthly games. PS Plus Extra then adds a catalogue of PS4 and PS5 games into the mix, while PS Plus Deluxe and Premium (depending on your region) adds older PS2, PS1 and PSP game emulation, and game streaming for PS3 and other titles.

Sony hasn’t announced whether we’ll be seeing more games added to the Extra and Premium tiers in July. However, we have confirmation that Crash Bandicoot 4, Arcadegeddon, and The Man of Medan will be available to download and keep for anyone with PlayStation Plus via the Essential tier.
