The Gran Turismo movie is racing ahead with its casting. Hollywood Reporting has reported that Stranger Things star David Harbour has agreed to be part of the movie which is being directed Neil Blomkamp. The Gran Turismo movie will be rather different to Neil Blomkamp’s other projects like District 9, Elysium, and Chappie. The script is being written by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin.
The plot of the Gran Turismo movie was revealed back in June with it being, “Based on a true story, the film is the ultimate wish fulfilment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race car driver.”
At the moment, no other cast members have been confirmed for Gran Turismo but the movie is scheduled to be released in 2023. The plot outline all but confirms that the movie will focus on the GT Academy and the teenager is likely to be one of those who has gone through the academy or a fictional character based on those individuals.
Sony has being working on adapting a lot of its properties for movies and television. Uncharted, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg has been one of the biggest so far. Ratchet and Clank were also given the movie treatment. Then you have The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War shows being in development.
