Oxenfree II: Lost Signals has been delayed to 2023, Night School Studios has announced. The delay comes from the studio requiring more time for development, and to work on localisations for the game. When in 2023 Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is expected to release is unknown. Night School Studios released a statement that can be read below.
“We owe it to our amazing community to make Oxenfree II: Lost Signals the best game it can possibly be. Seeing your fan art, reading your excited comments, and connecting with your fuels our ambition to make this our best game yet. To make Oxenfree II truly special and add more localizations, we’re moving our release window to 2023. Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding. We can’t wait to share the game with you. Stay tuned!
Oxenfree II: Lost Signals was first announced in April 2021 with the aim to release the game that year. It was originally announced for PC and Switch, but in August 2021 it was confirmed that the game would be heading to PlayStation consoles. Then in September last year, Night School Studio was acquired by Netflix, with the aim to create original titles with the support of the streaming company.
In our Oxenfree II: Lost Signals preview, Stefan wrote, “On a surface level, Oxenfree II: Lost Signals might appear to be more of the same, weaving a new story in the same vein as the original game. Night School are creating a more ambitious sequel, though. There’s more ways to work your way through the story, more places and variations you can end up at, and likely a more mature tone from the characters you meet. It should make your journey through the story feel all the more personal and unique, and I can’t wait to experience mine.”

I was wondering already what had happened to this game, as it’s been on my wishlist for a while and still is only in an ‘announced’ state. The first one was excellent, hope this will release on PS at some point, although they belong to Netflix now.
