Activision Blizzard has confirmed a World of Warcraft Dragonflight release date – the highly anticipated expansion will officially land next month on November 28, 2022.
The news was revealed in the developer’s latest trailer, showcasing the titular dragonflights while giving WoW fans a closer look at The Dragon Isles.
The dragons of Azeroth have summoned heroes of both the Alliance and Horde to Dragon Isles in the new Dragonflight expansion, looking to have them handle new threats in their realm and uncover the mysteries that are beginning to surface.
One of the new mysteries for players will be that of the Dracthyr Evokers. This new playable race has two customisable forms – either a humanoid look or a draconic form that will likely be better for battle and overcoming obstacles. This new race will be able to pick and choose between either Alliance or Horde. Either way, they’ll begin at level 58, so they’ll be right up to speed in the quest for the new level cap of 70, and can focus on different classes to specialise in damage dealing or healing.
They will be unveiled through a new introductory story, a new starting point for players where you can learn to use your new abilities. From there you can venture forth into the Dragon Isles, a lush and primal region filled with elemental energy. It will feature four standard areas and the new starting zone, with icy wastes, lava-filled areas, forests and coasts. All the standard biomes for a video game!
All players will also be able to earn a drake to customise and fly around the island. There will be millions of possible combinations, so no two drakes will look quite alike. Except all the ones called Nathan.
And long-time players will be overjoyed to hear that there will be a major reworking of existing features. The talent system is getting a revamp, the HUD is being improved, there’s a new crafting and profession system, and more. Here are more details on the new expansion:
Unleash the Power of the Dracthyr Evoker
Become a Dracthyr Evoker, an ancient race of winged humanoid dragonkin recently awoken on the Dragon Isles. Dracthyr Evokers are BOTH a new playable race AND a new playable class, which can specialize into Preservation (healer) or Devastation (ranged magic damage).
Explore the Mythical Dragon Isles
The Dragon Isles have remained hidden for 10,000 years since the time of the Great Sundering. Now, their forgotten shores reawaken with primal energy, beckoning brave explorers from the Horde and Alliance.
Level to 70
Rise to new heights of power as you progress to level 70 with potent new abilities, all supported by the return of newly revamped talent trees.
The news of the World of Warcraft Dragonflight release date follows the return of menacing antagonist, Arthas. Those who are playing World of Wacraft Classic can now experience the Wrath of the Lich King expansion a second time.
