Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion has got a brand new trailer called “More Than A Remaster”, and it gives a brief overview of what players can expect when the game is released. In the trailer, there are multiple shots comparing the original PSP release to the new upcoming release, including the updated graphics, new animations, and the improved combat system. You can watch them all below.
Crisis Core tells the story of SOLDIER 1st Class Zack Fair as he searches for the missing SOLDIER Genesis Rhapsodos, a tale that will tie in with the stories of Cloud, Sephiroth, Aerith, Tifa and leading into Final Fantasy VII’s main tale. This is a remaster of the 2007 PlayStation Portable original that could border on being a remake. The graphics have been enhanced with new 3D models from characters through to environments, while the dialogue is now fully voiced and there’s a new arrangement for the soundtrack.
In our own preview, which was titled “Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion is more than just a remaster”, Stefan wrote, “Living in the grey area between a remake and a remaster, Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion does feel a little underwhelming in places. This is a recreation of the original in Unreal Engine 4, with new 3D models throughout and modernised lighting and effects, and you can absolutely see it…On the whole, while it’s nowhere near as ambitious as some of the remakes we’ve seen in recent years, Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion is a solid modernisation of a game that would otherwise fade into obscurity. There’s plenty of reasons for FF7 fans to want to pick this up when it releases in December.”
