Ubisoft has revealed Far Cry 6: Lost Between Worlds, a rather trippy extra-terrestrial DLC expansion adventure that is coming to the open world shooter next week on 6th December.
After a meteor crashes to ground and Far Cry 6 protagonist Dani does the only thing that makes sense and shoots at the big glowing alien ball that emerges from the crash site, they are transported into a dimension filled with fractured worlds based on different parts of the island nation Yara and with plenty of recursive world replication giving it a kaleidoscopic feel at times.
You’ll start with basically nothing and have to unlock new weapons and abilities while fighting crystalline enemies. You’ll explore this setting across multiple runs, choosing different pathst through the rifts as you go – in that way, this seems to mimic some parts of the roguelite-inspired DLC packs that released for Far Cry 6 over the past year.
Lost Between Worlds will be available as part of the Upgrade Pass for Far cry 6, which includes all the previous DLC episodes. Alternatively, it will be available as a separate purchase for $19.99.
Ahead of the DLC release, Far Cry 6 has just been updated with New Game+ for all players, letting you replay the campaign with all the kit you unlocked on the first go round. Ubisoft are also offering free trials across most launch platforms.
From our our review for Far Cry 6, Gamoc wrote:
“Far Cry 6 feels like a sequel that was made because there needed to be a sequel, that’s making changes because it needs to show progress. The previous three numbered games in the series felt like they had their own identity and tried to offer more and more options to the player, but Far Cry 6 is a lateral move towards something that isn’t quite the Far Cry I originally loved.”
