505 Games and InGame Studios have announced Crime Boss: Rockay City, a first person heist shooter that’s got an all-star cast. While it might look like it’s trying to steal someĀ of GTA 6’s limelight with a neon-infused, Miami-like setting, the actual gameplay looks much closer to Payday.

Crime Boss: Rockay City is out for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on 28th March 2023.

Crime Boss: Rockay City puts you in the shoes of Travis Baker, a guy stepping into the world of organised crime in the early 90s and the fictional Floridian locale of Rockay City. It’s a bustling metropolis with skyscrapers and sandy beaches… and plenty of crimes to commit.

This was perhaps one of the most baffling announcements of The Game Awards, especially as it led straight into a trailer that’s almost more about the cast of actors that InGame has snagged for the game. Even more strange is the Deep Fake-like way that all of them are lip synced to the backing song ā€“ Connected by Stereo MC’s.

We’ve got Michael Madsen as Travis Baker, Kim Basinger as Casey, Damion Poitier as Nasara, Danny Trejo as The Dragon, Danny Glover as Gloves, Michael Rooker as Touchdown, Vanilla Ice and Hielo, and Chuck Norris who’s on hand for a good roundhouse kick.

The game will be playable both solo and in online co-op for up to four players. Gameplay released separately shows some of the style of the game’s first person stealth action, which looks a fair bit like Payday. Check it out.

It certainly looks intriguing, and could be just what fans of those old Payday games are looking for. One to keep an eye on into the new year.
