Something for the Christmas Weekend – 24/12/22

Warhammer 40,000 Darktide Preview Header

After the freezing cold that gripped the country broke last weekend, it doesn’t look like we’re getting the white Christmas everyone always fixates upon. I’m sure that won’t really affect much of anything over the next few days.

As it happens, Christmas Eve this year aligns quite nicely with the weekend and our regular gaming round-up, so here’s everything that we’ve been up to over the past seven days. Looking to the week ahead, we’re taking a load off, but will still have Game of the Year awards and Most Wanted lists dropping each day.

In the News This Week

Game of the Year 2022

This week saw us kick off our Game of the Year awards, and we’ve already handed out over half a dozen accolades in a broad spread of categories.

Games in Review & Featured Articles

With the end of the year rapidly approaching, we still had some big games to talk about before we shut up shop for Christmas.

These games were joined by a couple hardware reviews as well:

And there was a solitary preview for the upcoming superhero-infused action RPG Superfuse.

We also had out Most Wanted list, for games coming out in 2023.

And we rounded things out with What We Played as usual, featuring Midnight Suns, Blacktail and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

Your Achievements

Here’s what you in our community have been up to this week:

  • MrYd’s gaming has been impacted by his new job (as has unlocking his phone because he’s running out of fingerprints!), but he did sneak in a few bits and pieces. There was The Witcher 3 on PS5, and some more Escape Academy, which is highly recommended by him. He also snapped up games in the January Sale, including Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark, which he’s enjoying as a tactical RPG.
  • willbuchanan also started a new job which has meant he’s been commuting, baking for Christmas buffets and Secret Santas. He’s not even had time to play Pikmin Bloom!
  • Andrewww carried on with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, right up until it left PS Plus mid-week. While he was tempted to buy it, he instead started playing Deathloop, but work has meant he only got a little way into it. The holidays will now mean he’s only going to get some Vita gaming in over the next few weeks, if anything.

And with that, enjoy your Christmas weekend, and we’ll catch you on the other side.
