Something for the Weekend – 31/10/26

The British Halloween experience is rather different to the one depicted in Hollywood films and American TV shows. It’s certainly more polite and permissive round my neck of the woods, as it’s only if and when I have a lit pumpkin out the front that the throngs of kids will come to the door and (depending on age) very shyly ask for treats.

I’m hoping to avoid last year’s failing, where one final group of maybe 10 kids showed up all at once and I ran out just before the final one. I did feel bad for the kid.

In the News This Week

The news this time round was far less devastating than last week.

Games in Review & Featured Articles

A big batch of reviews this week:

Dom also revisited the excellent Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War for their Switch 2 ports, and dished out verdicts on the Edifier G5 Max headset and SteelSeries Aeon Pro controller.

I also had a late preview of Ashes of the Singularity II, a big macro RTS sequel that’s bringing some great ideas to the table.

We wrap up with What We Played featuring Modern Warfare 4, GTA 5 and Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy.

World of Warcraft: Forever, Planet Azeroth featuring Bill Bailey might be the best crossover of 2026

Virtua Fighters Crossroads trailer introduces Lionel Rafale

That’s the round up for this week. Hope you have a great weekend and we’ll see you back here on Monday!
