A new Atomic Heart gameplay trailer has been released, showcasing not just the game’s action-packed combat and world, but as a demo for the ray tracing, DLSS 3 upscaling and more advanced graphical effects that the latest GeForce RTX graphics cards can enable.

Atomic Heart will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC on 21st February 2023. It will release into Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Set in an alternate reality 1955, the Soviet Union has blossomed into a utopia on the backs of robotics and advanced technologies. However, something goes wrong at Facility 3826, as robots rebel against their human creators, and you, the Major of Intelligence have been sent in to discover what went wrong and stop it.

The game is a first person shooter action RPG that has a lot of the hallmarks of the BioShock series, with a left hand that’s able to spew out elemental attacks, while the right hand wields a gun. It promises a broad and varied challenge, with deadly foes that will require you to study and change your approach to match, whether it’s a mutant or bloodthirsty creature that’s been released from the facilities experiments, or the machines that now menace you.

It also has a strong and very distinctive art direction, leaning heavily into 1950s kitsch and Soviet era architecture, blending it with a modern sensibility of how these worlds can decay and crumble in on themselves. We’ll have to wait and see how well the PS5 and Series X versions of the game can stack up to the gorgeous graphics of the trailer above, not to mention how the last generation Playstation 4 and Xbox One can fare with a game like this.

  1. That fidelity would be awesome on console but i think the overall design style is the attractive part of this game so i’ll accept a drop in quality if the framerate is good.
