Assassin’s Creed Mirage is coming out one week early

Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be coming out one week ahead of schedule. The new AC Mirage release date is 5th October 2023.

Originally announced for release on 12th October, the team led by Ubisoft Bordeaux is a smidgeon ahead of schedule, and has been able to declare the game has gone ‘Gold’. It’s a slightly archaic term, meaning the point at which a developer or publisher can send a game sent to manufacture, but with digital games and hefty day one patches now the norm, Ubisoft will continue to squash bugs right up until launch.

A return to the series’ gameplay roots, AC Mirage puts an emphasis on stealth action and parkour, as opposed to the bloated 80-hour action RPG adventures of more recent games.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage follows Basim Ibn Ishaq, a character who first appeared in AC Valhalla, but at a much earlier time of his life. It’s a coming of age story for Basim, as he goes from a street thief to being one of the leading Hidden Ones under the tutelage of Roshan. However, there’s tragedy to his tale, and even as he’s inducted into this group, he’s haunted by nightmarish visions.

The game takes place in Baghdad, an open city to explore and adventure in, but a setting that is on the tipping edge to uprising and the Zanj revolution.

AC Mirage was a centrepiece game at June’s Ubisoft Forward event, showcasing the game’s modernised take on the original Assassin’s Creed formula with an eight minute gameplay reveal.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is coming out on 5th October across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC. There’s a $50 standard edition price and $60 deluxe price, with the same price across both generations. Those who pre-order will get a bonus quest based on Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.
