The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom goodies available for free from Nintendo

Nintendo have dropped a few bits and pieces for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that should help you make your way through the game. The pack includes three glowing cave fish and two brightcaps, but you wont find it as a free drop on the Nintendo eShop, instead they are hidden away on the Switch News channel.

Once you have the app open head to the news channel and locate the story  “Lost in the dark? Time for your cooking to shine!” which is about Tears of the Kingdom. Hit the play button to watch the news, then log in to game and you will find you have been granted the pack.

“Spelunking without a light source in Hyrule can be a tricky business. Not only is it hard to see where you’re going, but bumping into things in the darkness can have unpleasant consequences! This time, we’re taking a look at how cooking can help you find your way in caves or the Depths,” says Nintendo’. ”

“Strange as it seems, cooking some of the glowing cave fish and brightcaps found in caves throughout Hyrule will give you a meal which, when eaten, will cause Link to glow! Granted, the effect doesn’t last forever, nor will it illuminate an entire cave, but there’ll be enough light to help you find your way. Start the game and you’ll get some free ingredients to kickstart your culinary experiments. Cook these up together and you’ll be able to make a Fish and Mushroom Skewer with a glow effect! The next time you find yourself stuck in a dark area, consider eating a light meal!”

“As if it was really in doubt, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is another sublime entry in this series,” said Stefan in our review. “It’s not as thoroughly refreshing as Breath of the Wild was six years ago, but as a direct sequel, it takes the same world and manages to transform it with a new over and under world, while Link’s powerful new abilities foster ever-more creative play, and a new epic tragedy unfolds before you. As we head into the Nintendo Switch’s twilight years, this is practically essential.
