We’re one month of the way into the year, and the release schedule is ramping right up with a whole host of big and interesting new games coming out in February 2024. And when I say big, I mean really big, with some long-awaited games emerging from development hell, like Skull and Bones and Suicide Squad, and huge PS5 exclusives like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
So, here’s fifteen of the upcoming game releases in the next 29 days. Let’s dive in.
Games coming out in February 2024
Granblue Fantasy: Relink
1st February – PS5, XSX|S, PC
This one lands today, with Granblue Fantasy: Relink an all-new action RPG that sees central hero Gran travels the skies in the Grandcypher, facing off with his friends against a new evil that’s set to plague that lands. Check out our review, where Dom said, that it’s “turned out to be one of the most enjoyable anime games of recent years, and one that does the franchise proud.”
Persona 3 Reload
2nd February – PS5, XSX|S, PS4, XBO, PC
A full remake of the 2006 cult classic JRPG, Persona 3 Reloaded is more than just a visual uplift. Of course, it does look pretty snazzy in Unreal Engine, but there’s also a Persona 5-style combat system, rerecorded dialogue, some renewed story and puzzle elements and more. In our review, Nic said, “this is very much the best possible edition of the game, even if it can’t quite be called ‘definitive’.”
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
2nd February – PS5, XSX|S, PC
Nine years on from Batman: Arkham Knight, Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad is a very different style of game. A live service title with an ensemble cast of the iconic expendable villain squad, Suicide Squad has led to a lot of hand wringing from fans unsure of this change of direction. Will it be any good?
This one’s a bit of a technicality, because the early access window for Suicide Squad opened on 30th January, but the official street date is 2nd February. We’ve been playing the game for the last couple days and will have our review going live soon.
Foamstars
6th February – PS5, PS4 (exclusively on PS Plus)
Square Enix has taken some liberal inspiration from Nintendo’s Splatoon for Foamstars, with this family friendly 4v4 shooter having you coat the arena with coloured foam that you can then surf around on. The key difference is that foam can build up to create higher vantage points, and there’s some unusual and distinct game modes to check out as well.
This one will be available exclusively via PlayStation Plus’ monthly games for February, before a paid release in March.
Helldivers 2
8th February – PS5, PCÂ
Get ready to drop into the fight for galactic Freedom and Democracy against giant bugs and angry robots. Where the original game was a top-down shooter, Helldivers 2 is going all in on third person shooter action, but one thing will remain the same: friendly fire is very, very on. So… choose your co-op buddies wisely!
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
13th February – PS5, XSX|S, PC
Banishers is a dark fantasy tale of love and loss. Red Mac Raith is tasked with protect the land from spirits, curses and ghosts, using both martial skills and supernatural ones, but he has a secret, as his beloved Antea passed away and cannot bring himself to banish her as well. In action, you can control both Red and Antea, shifting between the physical and spectral in combat and while exploring the world.
It’s a compelling concept and setting, and with Don’t Nod’s storytelling chops, we’re excited to play more after we were lucky enough to go hands-on with the game at last year’s Gamescom.
Ultros
13th February – PS5, XSX|S, PCÂ
Blending psychadelic visual style from El Huervo and world building with a classic Metroidvania form, Ultros is absolutely a game to pay attention to this coming month. We got to go hands on with the game last year and reckon this could be a pretty special one.
Solium Infernum
14th February – PC
A modernised take on the cult classic turn-based strategy game from the late 2000s, Solium Infernum is all about asynchronous grand strategy in the bowels of Hell. You can play this one at your leisure, with turns taking minutes or days, depending on how you’ve set up the game, and with players just needing to pop in and submit their commands within that turn timer.
What better way to spend Valentine’s Day than by plotting the downfall of your friends and loved ones?
Tomb Raider I-III Remastered
14th February – PS5, XSX|S, PS4, XBO, NSW, PC
Tomb Raider is an absolute icon of the mid-90s and a landmark of gaming culture, and now the original trilogy is being remastered for modern hardware. Aspyr Media is trying to take a careful approach to enhancing the games with little touches of modernity, so you have the option of enhanced visuals or the original, you have both the original “tank” controls and modern controls, and tweaks to make tougher bosses a little less frustrating.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong
16th February – NSW
Nintendo has remade the Game Boy Advance puzzle platformer Mario vs. Donkey Kong, a real gem of a game from the handheld great, which is now being spruced up with 3D visuals and more. All the originally 2D puzzles from the GBA have been remade in 3D, but the action still takes place on a 2D plane, as you run around, hit switched to activate coloured blocks, and eventually have to face off against DK. This remake adds support for co-op.

Skull and Bones
16th February – PS5, XSX|S, PC
Yup, Skull and Bones is finally happening! This sea-faring game of piracy has been in the works for around a decade, and we finally went hands on with the last closed beta test at the end of last year. Truth be told, we came away hoping that the full game is a better experience than the first few hours would suggest.
You won’t have to wait too long to try this out for yourselves. One final open beta will be kicking off on 8th February, and if you enjoy it enough to carry on playing with the full game, then your progression will carry forward.
Pacific Drive
22nd February – PS5, PC
Patch up your beaten up wood-panelled station wagon and head out into the Olympic Exclusion Zone in Pacific Drive. As you explore further afield you’ll scavenge resources, repair and upgrade your car to survive what awaits you outside.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake
28th February – PS5, XSX|S, PC
The first game from A Way Out and It Takes Two creator Josef Fares, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is being remade for the latest consoles. There’s a pretty big jump in graphical quality, but this is another of those “isn’t it a bit soon?” remakes. Any excuse to revisit one of the narrative highlights of the last few generations, though.
Star Wars: Dark Forces Remastered
28th February – PS5, XSX|S, PS4, XBO, NSW, PC
Star Wars: Dark Forces is one of the highlights of Star Wars’ proud tradition of video games. Following in the footsteps of Doom and Marathon, it was a first person shooter that put a blaster in your hands and sent you off on missions to foil the Empire’s latest dastardly plots – namely the rising threat of Dark Troopers. This remaster by Nightdive Studios, will keep a hold of the original art style and graphics, but update it with support for 4K resolutions, widescreens and 60fps.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
29th February – PS5
Picking the rarest of release dates, Square Enix’s middle chapter in the remake trilogy is easily one of the biggest PlayStation 5 exclusives of the year.
The middle chapter in the remake trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth sees the gang journey out into the wider world for the first time, uncovering more of the history and misdeeds of Shinra and what Sephiroth is now up to. This sequel will build on FF7 Remake’s action RPG combat with new party combo abilities and attacks, while also adding more open world segments that you can explore on the back of a Chocobo.
We’ve been hands on with the game late last year and playing the Fated Mt. Nibel Mission that flashed back to a time before, as well as setting foot in Under Junon.
