Polyphony Digital isn’t done with Gran Turismo 7 yet, and series creator Kazunori Yamauchi appeared in the State of Play stream to announce that Gran Turismo 7 Spec 3 will arrive in December, as one of the game’s biggest updates yet.
The GT7 Spec 3 update will arrive in a few months with two new circuits that are staples from the Formula 1 calendar. The season-ending showcase at Yas Marina and Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, the ever-popular site of the Canadian Grand Prix, are both coming to GT7.
Alongside this are eight new vehicles, which includes a new GT3 car in the form of the Ferrari 296 GT3 Gr.3, two Japanese beasts with the Mitsubishi FTO Version R Aero Series and Mine’s Skyline (R34) GT-R V-spec N1, and another fictional Formula Gran Turismo, which looks rather a lot like a ’90s F1 car.
All of these will no doubt be featured within new Circuit Experiences, which are aimed at helping players learn the tracks sector-by-sector, but more interesting is the new data logger feature, which brings deeply detailed telemetry readouts and views into the game, so you can truly analyse your driving and racing performance. This will likely be limited to the Time Trial mode.
Stay tuned for more details on this as we get closer to the update’s release, but you can expect a lot of significant under the hood changes, with overhauled physics often coming in this kind of update, while Polyphony has already confirmed an incoming partnership to feature Dunlop tyres.
