SkyCards seasons being removed today after community feedback

Flightradar24 has announced that SkyCards will no longer have seasons after reception to its Season One launch a couple of weeks ago was met by negative community feedback. The season one update changed the way coins were collected and cards levelled up, with cards from season zero being locked, meaning those cards collected did not count to the XP for season one cards even if they were the same plane model. In addition, prior to the season one update coins could be earned by getting a 100% perfect photo capture, 0% cloud cover, or both. In season one, coins could only be earned by getting both, with any cloud cover reducing the amount of XP earned.

A couple of weeks ago, FlightRadar addressed the community about the changes saying, “We made Season 1 to solve a big problem with the data: it keeps changing. Rarity needs to be updated from time to time. In a perfect world, we would update it every day, but to keep the game stable we choose a cycle of roughly 6 months. If we don’t update rarity, the gap between the game and the real world just keeps growing. That is also why rarity-based achievements are seasonal, they need to match the data snapshot they are based on. We know that many players don’t exactly love this solution (putting it mildly). We are working on improving the experience, there will be improvements within a couple of weeks, but a more solid solution will take more time.”

That solid solution is taking place today with season zero and season one cards being merged, with the XP being combined. Additionally, season achievements will also be merged so there are no longer different collections. For those who don’t know about the game, SkyCards is a game where you collect planes, unlock airports, and battle other players in different themed battles each week using your plane cards. The game features daily missions too, which could range from catching a specific make of aircraft to catching a plane taking a specific route. If you fancy trying out SkyCards you can grab it on Google Play and the App Store.
