Cor blimey. Well, that’s another week in the bag, and in the UK it’s been hotter than a PS5’s armpits, even in the more typically frozen wastelands of the north. Still, I’ve only ventured outside a little, plugging away at a bunch of games including Lego Batman, Lumentale, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition and Forza Horizon 6.
Tef has also played a bit of Lego Batman, as well as a bit more of 007 First Light. He says, “Both are great.” So, that’s all you need to know, right? But if he were to elaborate, he’d point to all the incredible nods, winks and jokes in Lego Bats, and the constantly surprising action adventure feel of 007.
While he has been playing more Skull & Bones, most of Jim’s time has been spent with 007 First Light. He says, “As a huge fan of both Hitman and Uncharted, it’s ticking both boxes for me and is easily my favourite game of the year so far.”
Steve has been playing “Super Mario What the Hell is That Ball of Fire in the Sky, UK edition” though I think that’s a joke, because Nintendo DLC isn’t free. He continues, “Whilst hiding from the heat I have played through The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time, Necrophosis, which is a huge improvement on The Shore, The Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, which has been perfect for the ungodly heat of the night, and finally Aliens: Infestation after rescuing my CFW DS from my kids.”
That’s not all though! He also checked out the Early Access for classic ARPG, Kromlech, saying, “Going to put a bit more time in before writing it up as it’s super nostalgic for an old-time Piranha Bytes fan like me, but obviously still needs a lot of polish.”
TC played more Resi Requiem and remembered why he doesn’t like Resi games apart from four and five. He explained, “You need this key, but to get that you need this puzzle piece but before that you need a screwdriver but before that you need some cheese to distract the zombie mice. And the things you need are always miles away from where you need them. It’s just very contrived, old fashioned, and dull. Also what is with bullet sponge zombies that soak up headshots? No. Go away Resi and come back when you’ve made it to 2026.”
So, I don’t think he’s enjoyed it quite as much as the rest of us? He does have his own suggestions, “Someone needs to do Scream (the original movie) for Resident Evil. Here are all the tropes and mechanics that always happen, so let’s NOT do them in the expected way and drag it to the modern day. Box with fuse screwed shut? Smash the glass with something rather than hunt for a flipping screwdriver. Jeez. Would Nathan Drake look for a screwdriver? No.”
Laura and Ade and have returned to Diablo 4 and started from the top with new characters. Laura told us, “We chose the barbarian and sorcerer this time which we much prefer over our previous druid and necromancer characters as our screen gets less jam-packed with animals, skeletons and golems! Time to kick some Daughter of Hatred butt!!”
Gamoc has played Rune Dice for review, Crimson Desert, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Talking of the latter, he says it’s “Very good, except the combat is pretty shallow and there is way too much of it, drawing things out unnecessarily.” And we’ll wrap things up with Aran, who has been playing Mina The Hollower for review, though we’ll have to wait for next week to see how he’s got on.
What about you? What have you played?
