Dotemu and developer Triskell Interactive have announced Theos: Cities of Myth, a new city building and management game that looks to pay homage to classics of the genre when it launches later this year for PC.
A spiritual successor to Pharaoh: A New Era, Theos jumps across to an ancient Greek setting and looks to explore this new time period and mythology. Each city you build within the game will pay tribute to a specific Greek deity, such as Athen or Ares. Your city will have to abide by your God’s wishes if you wish to have the chance to cater to your citizens’ needs and grow.
The game will build on the look and feel of Pharaoh: A New Era, retaining a hand-drawn isometric aesthetic in keeping with the early aughts, and having animated citizens doing their thing in the various buildings – and you’ll need plenty of different structures to cater to the societal needs of your people, as well as producing materials and goods for your future expansions.
Those expansions can be a little bit warlike, as you can recruit an army to keep your people safe, or to conquer and claim other lands away from your main city.
