What We Played – Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Beastro & Silent Hill 2

Gaming still has plenty opportunity for surprises, and I’ve played one such title this week that has really grabbed my attention. You’ll have to wait a little while longer before I can tell you all about it next week, but suffice to say that it’s coming out in September – does that actually help to narrow it down? – and it’s something that you should really be looking forward to.

Anyway, I’ve also just bought Megabonk in the Steam sale, so I fully expect to mess around with the silly 3D Survivors-like this weekend.

Jason’s been playing Elden Ring, but not the vanilla version, as he’s added the Convergence Mod 3.0 to enhance the experience. He’s also been having a blast with DunHero, a bit of the high-fantasy Streets of Rogue, and has hit Golden Saucer in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – “While I am enjoying the game, I just know it’s about to be a bunch of mini-games again, and I don’t want that just yet.”

Like some kind of luddite (according to Sony) Aran has been using a disc, physical media to play Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. He tells us that he is “Still around halfway through and I’m currently trying to complete all the drink links with the party members while also trying to get the best gear for each member where I possibly can so I can just power through the next half of the game.”

By contrast, Steve has embraced the future to play God of War: Ascension via PlayStation Plus streaming. He’s now thinking about emulation considering how annoying the choppier moments have become. Aside from that, a trip away to Edinburgh with his eldest meant that his gaming was restricted to a few hours of the original Onimusha: Warlords, a bit of Gecko Gods, and cruising through the Steam Summer Sale.

Still slaving away in the video game review kitchen, Laura has been using magical foods to defeat monsters in Beastro. She say, “It’s such a charming game with a well played-out narrative and I’m wondering how I’ll fill the Palo Pori shaped hole I’ll find in my life when the game is over!”

Jim got bast the drab opening hours of Silent Hill 2, which has now sunk its hooks into him, but he’s also played a bit more of Trail out and grabbed the platinum trophy for Twisted Metal 3.

Dabbling in the real world once more, Gamoc has played D&D twice in real life, but you can add to that AC Black Flag Remake for our upcoming review, as well more of Bellwrite, The Necromancer’s Tale and some balatro.

And finally, Tuffcub has been playing Destiny 2 again, though he sounds suitably apologetic for this.

Now then, what have you been playing?

  1. I just let my Plus membership end, as this damn auto-renewal already got me last year, and Sony makes it so difficult to downgrade. So I’m giving it a break and will go for Extra at some point soon (when the monthly games are actually worth it).
I also realised that I just lost access to about 90% of the games I’m playing. But it gives me the chance to clean up some backlog of those few I actually bought, started playing Kona 2 last night, which is perfect for the hotter season.

  2. I was in Belfast at the weekend for the Cure – awesome gig! Gamewise i’ve been playing Neon Abyss and Deadzone Rogue, both fun blasters in their own right.

    • The Cure sounds great..! You just remind me I saw Linkin Park in Zurich this week, and that was also tops. But we got soaked like drowned rats, as it started to rain so badly…
