Alien Deathstorm’s new action-horror trailer sends you on a Fission expedition

Rebellion has shared a new gameplay trailer for the action-horror of Alien Deathstorm, confirming that the game will launch in Spring 2027.

The game takes place on an off-world colony that’s ravaged by a huge mega-storm, casting players as a Combat Engineer sent to investigate the loss of communications and prepare for the arrival of a full rescue fleet. What soon becomes clear is that there’s not just this massive Deathstorm, but there’s also the Aliens from the title as well, and not just a few of them. Lots of them.

Announced back in March, Gamescom is the first chance that the either the press or general public will have to go hands on with Alien Deathstorm, with the regular punters able to sample the Reactor mission – the Engineer will have to fight through an alien onslaught to reach a malfunctioning fission reactor and snag its Fission Initiator.

Alien Deathstorm is another sign of Rebellion trying to diversify their gaming portfolio. Sniper Elite has always been there for the studio, and the Zombie Army spin-off series has its schlocky horror appeal, but there was a period where it wasn’t quite certain how they could really branch out from that – Strange Brigade sadly wasn’t quite it. Thankfully last year’s Atomfall was a surprise hit, and Alien Deathstorm has the feel of something that could be similarly popular.

Alien Deathstorm will launch next spring for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it will be available day one with higher tiers of Xbox Game Pass.
