Konami has announced a demo for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will be release on 1st October, just in time for the official start of spooky season, and a couple weeks ahead of the full game launch on 15th October.
The demo will be available across all launch platforms – PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC – and save data will be able to carry over to the full version of the game.
Set in 1499 Paris, 23 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Belmont’s Curse puts you in the shoes of Rose Belmont, the daughter of Trevor and Sypha. As Paris falls into chaos, Rose sets out to uncover the mysteries surrounding the latest supernatural threat, eventually finding her way to Dracula’s castle.
Original Dead Cells studio Motion Twin is here in an advisory role, while their successor studio at Evil Empire are the main developers alongside Konami on Belmont’s Curse. Evil Empire was founded in 2019 to continue to support Dead Cells, and through that they gained their first taste of making a Castlevania experience. The fourth and final expansion for Dead Cells was Return to Castlevania, arriving in 2023 with characters, weapons and enemies licensed from the Castlevania series. With a working relationship already established, and that DLC well-received, this is a second crack of the whip at the franchise.
Nick played Belmont’s Curse back at Gamescom, and came away rather impressed: “The demo only scratched the surface of the Arcana system, and I’m particularly keen to discover what some of the more powerful cards can do. I also want to see how the story develops and how Rose’s relationship with Trevor and Sypha fits into the wider narrative. But even from this short hands-on session, Belmont’s Curse feels like a very promising return to the world of Castlevania.”
