The Expanse: Osiris Reborn gets a new lead male voice actor

Owlcat Games has revealed a new voice actor for their upcoming sci-fi action RPG The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. The voice for the male protagonist (and NPC twin) has been recast with Blythe Melin stepping into the role. Check out the change and some new line deliveries:

The reason for the change came after some feedback given by the community that played The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Beta. Obviously this decision was made a while ago, and so Owlcat and Blythe have been busily re-recording lines for a good while now, I’m sure.

It’s not just the voice that is changing, but also how the character(s) look. The protagonist appearance is fully customisable, including gender, with the female leads having featured in most recent trailers, but as we saw with the Mass Effect trilogy and countless other RPGs, it does a lot to have good default appearances for players that might prefer that. The protagonist has a bit more of a wavy hair look, while his twin comes with artistic side-shaving and a top knot.

I got to go hands on with The Expanse: Osiris Reborn at Gamescom this year, and it’s long been talked about as being something of a Mass Effect successor, or taking significant inspiration from that series for its action RPG shooter combat. I said, “I can definitely see a more optimistic note running through what I played of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, and applying Mass Effect-inspired combat to a sci-fi world that I and many others have a lot of fondness for could be a great fit.
