Monster Hunter Returns, Tops JP Sales Chart

Last week saw the launch of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Version in Japan. Not only is the game quite a tongue twister, it’s the first title in the “PSP Remaster” series, a collection of portable classics optimised to run on the PlayStation 3. With the original version of MHP3 not even a year old, that hasn’t stopped the HD version from grabbing top spot on the Japanese sales chart.

Managing to trump other new releases including Dynasty Warriors 7 Special, Black Rock Shooter, and Samurai Warriors 3: Empires,  the latest instalment in Capcom’s flagship managed to shift an impressive 287,829 units. According to analysts things are only going to get better for the Japanese publisher, as long as Capcom marches into this year’s TGS with a new Monster Hunter in tow.

  1. Did it sell more PS3’s tho? That is what i am hoping for:P

  2. I knew this would top the sales in Japan, and I bet alot of people like myself have ordered the Japanese version rather than waiting for a European release date any longer. All I need to do now is learn Japanese!!

    • I admit, I’m tempted, but the language barrier is enough to stop me from importing. In my opinion you should wait out until after TGS 2011; it’s likely Capcom is preparing to announced new title in the series for Vita/PS3.

    • Let us know how that goes. A guest article telling how to go about it, and listing possible online resources, would be sweet.

    • Hire a translator?

  3. This is the one without trophies isn’t it? No deal!

    • Having been so used to the PSP versions, trophies aren’t really a problem. With that said they could add a lot more incentive.

    • Its still good without it though
